Key Facts

Apex Public is a dynamic school for boys and girls from age two onwards. We provide a flexible and sensitive approach which considers what children need at various stages of their development. Each day, characterised by positive encouragement in a structured and nurturing environment, we seek to bring out the best in each individual. We focus on personal growth in partnership with our families. We aim to develop individual character, talent, academic excellence and responsible citizenship through teamwork.

The Difference

Children between the ages of one and five do not learn because they are taught. They learn as a result of their own doing…through actions, relationships, inquiries, opportunities, and repetition. This knowledge is the foundation of emergent curriculum.

Our teachers become research partners with children, seeking answers to questions and supporting investigation. Our school is their laboratory, offering the materials and tools to inspire each child.

When children experience delight and a sense of success during these activities, their brain cells establish permanent ‘connections’ between the activity and the feelings of delight and success it inspires. If activities at school (and at home) result in negative feedback, boredom, memorization or lack of stimulation and motion, the child’s brain cells establish permanent negative associations with school and ‘learning’. Besides, the curriculum provides opportunities for learning through multiple intelligences and learning styles.

Therefore, our first and most important goal with emergent curriculum is to inspire delight, curiosity, and inquiry in the classroom. Doing so has been proven to build intrinsic motivation (coming from within the child) and a long-term love of learning. These are the greatest gifts our teachers can give a child in preparation for their primary school experience.

We see the child as having “preparedness, potential, curiosity and interest in constructing their own learning…and in negotiating with everything the environment brings to them.

The curriculum challenges the new age generation and beckons them to join the league of balanced, reflective and responsible global thinkers.

Stimulating curiosity and inquiry in order to foster a spirit of discovery and enjoyment of learning by doing. Learning by doing equips students with the skills to learn and acquire knowledge, individually or collaboratively, and to apply these skills and knowledge accordingly across a broad range of areas.

An integrated curriculum of soft craft activities will be introduced in middle school which will help in creation of interesting and usable products.

In pursuit of our core value to make our students Global Citizens’ we want our student to take life outside home and school seriously. We will from middle school years encourage our students to actively participate in community/social service. Some examples include sponsoring villages and help in educating the youngsters and adults there; help children with special needs; visiting orphanages/ hospitals to volunteer; working with homeless people; participate in greening the city; recycling waste etc.

The purpose is to sensitize our students to the needs of community and its members.

The desire to play comes naturally to all children and its value is undeniable. The process of playing increases a child’s self-esteem, opens a young mind to new possibilities, and develops social, verbal, and problem-solving skills. It is indeed as the old adage says: play is the child’s work. At APS sports is both integral to scholastic learning and talent honing.

An academic club is a great way for students to expand their minds outside of the classroom. A great example of an academic club is Science Olympiad. The program encourages students to learn more about science through classroom activities, workshops and competitions. The goal of the program is to get students excited over learning about Mathematics, Computer Sciences, Physics, Biology and Chemistry. These clubs would be introduced from middle school.
